Brand marketing often gets a bad rap. It’s seen as the “soft stuff”—important, sure, but hard to measure. Meanwhile, revenue teams are laser-focused on pipeline, conversions, and deals closed.

But here’s the truth: If your brand isn’t moving your company forward, it’s holding you back. And remember, with only 3% to 10% of your target market in an active buying cycle at any given time, it’s your brand that you better hope the other 90%+ remember when they move from awareness through to consideration and finally into a purchase.

So, how do you know if your brand is working? You measure it. Just like you measure demand gen, sales performance, and retention. Here are the KPIs that actually prove your brand is pulling its weight.

1️⃣ Awareness → Are You Even in the Conversation?

  • Share of Voice (SOV) vs. competitors in media, search, and social
  • Branded search volume (how many people are actively looking for you?)
  • Direct website traffic (are people coming straight to you, or are you invisible?)

2️⃣ Perception → Are You Known for the Right Things?

  • Customer and prospect surveys—what words do they associate with your brand?
  • NPS (Net Promoter Score) and brand sentiment analysis
  • Analyst and influencer mentions—are key industry players validating your positioning?

3️⃣ Personalized Engagement → Is Value Invidualized?

  • Organic social engagement (not just impressions—real conversations)
  • Content performance: time on page, scroll depth, and engagement rates (is messaging targeting a specific persona or value proposition performing better than others?)
  • Email and ad click-through rates (CTR)—is your messaging resonating with specific personas?

4️⃣ Conversion → Is Your Brand Creating Buyers?

  • Pipeline influenced by brand campaigns (first-touch and multi-touch attribution)
  • Lead-to-opportunity conversion rates (are branded leads more likely to progress?)
  • Sales cycle length—does brand trust make deals move faster?

5️⃣ Retention & Expansion → Does Your Brand Drive Loyalty?

  • Customer retention and renewal rates
  • Expansion revenue from existing accounts
  • Community engagement—are customers advocating for you publicly?

Brand Isn’t Just a Logo—It’s a Growth Engine

When brand marketing is done right, it’s not just “nice to have.” It’s a competitive advantage.

Your sales team closes deals faster.
Your marketing team generates warmer leads.
Your customers stay longer and spend more.
